Review Of Rich Man, Poor Man By Irwin Shaw

Rich Man, Poor Man is the story of two brothers whose contrasting natures reflect the turmoil of post-war America. Rudy is the rich man - a romantic who would let no one stand between him and success. Tom is the poor man - the black sheep of the family on the run from his violent past. This book has had a strong influence on a lot of youngsters leaving a deep and permanent impression.

The soap that followed is equally good, although it can't be compared with the book.

The casting is just great. Peter Strauss and his portrayal of Rudy is unforgettable and he fits perfectly fits the role. While Nick Nolte is perfect as the rebellious, hyperactive, irresponsible, but emotional Tom.

Arguably one of the finest TV mini-series.

Funny Steve Martin Clip

One of my favorite scenes from the Pink Panther featuring Steve Martin. He combines his comic talent splendidly doing the absurdities of Peter Sellers.

I would like to buy a HAMBURGER.... had me in STITCHES and it still does.

Hridayathin Niramayi From 100 Days Of Love

Hridayathin Niramayi features Dulquer Salmaan [as Balan K Nair or BKN] and Nithya Menon [as Sheela] from the romantic comedy '100 Days of Love'.

Considered to be the most romantic song of 2015 [can't comment on that, although their on-scene chemistry is great].

Response from critics has been phenomenal.

Deleted Scene From Ennu Ninte Moideen Featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran

Unnecessary part - in a way, good that it was deleted

Banned TV Commercial For An Optometrist

Banned Commercial although it conveys the message in an adult manner! (NSFW)

Well, a spectacle (pardon the pun) in Hindi is known as "Aayina" not "Aniya" as some Mallus call it (sorry about that, nothing intentional)

It is time to visit an optician or optometrist.

Alouette, Gentille Alouette

"Alouette" is a popular French-Canadian children's song about plucking the feathers from a lark, in retribution for being woken up by its song. Although it is in French, it is well-known among speakers of other languages; in this respect it is similar to "Frère Jacques". Many American doughboys and other Allied soldiers learned the song while serving in France during World War I and took it home with them, passing it on to their children and grandchildren.

Its origin is uncertain, though the most popular theory is that it is French-Canadian. The song was first published in A Pocket Song Book for the Use of Students and Graduates of McGill College (Montreal, 1879). However, Canadian folklorist Marius Barbeau was of the opinion that the song's ultimate origin was France.

Looking back...funnily, in Mallu, we always use to sing this as "Kaalu Vetta, Gentle Ayittu Vettu".... which has a totally different meaning !!...

More details about the song can be found at : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alouette_(song)

Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam malayalam Comedy Movie

There are some movies that you have to revisit when you are "grown-up" and living in "the city". Those movies take you back through time to drop you somewhere when you were a kid. This is one such movie.

Mohanlal and Sreenivasan team up again to woo the moviegoers. Both of them have their own styles. And this is very well shown in this movie where they act as foils. One with the slapstick comedy and the other with the wooden face and serious look and yet evoking as much laughter as the other.Kartika has also done her job well.

The movie is unpretentious,a refreshing change from the movies now, full of multiplexes and fast-food romance. If you haven't already seen it and call yourself a Malayalam movie fan, please stand corrected. Either watch it or drop the tag!

it gently sinks in as a feel good factor primarily for its middle-class innocence and effective interpretation of the under-the-hood social currents of the eighties....

A Clip From The Tracker - Stillwell shoots Noble Adams

"The Tracker" is just an old TV-movie from the 1980's you might think, but thanks to Kevin Jarre's well-written story the film works very well, better than most modern action-oriented Westerns. But the film has also Kris Kristofferson in the main role, and he is suitable as Noble Adams.

I think Kristofferson clearly shows that he handles his role very well, and one of the main reasons why the film works the way it does. Scott Wilson as the protagonist is excellent as usual, with strong contributions by all cast involved. I urge any true Western fan to obtain and watch THE TRACKER; it is an experience to be enjoyed and appreciated.

Any fan of the western genre should collect it.

MARS - Pump Up The Volume

This totally rocks.
This got banned by the BBC and still made it to number one on the charts..
1987 was crazy music! Too bad it will never be like that again.

Val Kilmer in The Saint

The Saint was released in 1997 and starred Val Kilmer as the Saint.

Duran Duran - "Out of My Mind" played the soundtrack.

Back in the sixties Roger Moore donned the persona of Simon Templar, known to his fans as The Saint. From the small tube to the Silver Screen, our hero has arisen to a modern audience. With the superb talent of Val Kilmer, the saint is out to accomplish two goals. First he attempts to secure his ambition of amassing $1 billion dollars, and second to perform three miracles.

In the process, he encounters both friends and villains. In this episode, the Saint attempts to save the crumbling Soviet Empire' energy supply, by revamping the scientific and long sought-after formula of Cold Fusion. In this story, he helps Dr. Lev Botvin, (Henry Goodman) perfect the celebrated formula of Physist Emma Russell, (Elisabeth Shue).

The re-energized formula will replenish Russia's dwindling energy and save the Premiere of Russia from the anti-government villains played adroitly by (Rade Serbedzija), Ivan Tretiak, (Valeri Nikolayev) and Vereshagin (Michael Byrne), the arch-enemies of Templar.

Alun Armstrong is believable as Inspector Teal. The film is fast paced and action oriented with plenty of drama, guns, explosions and international intrigue.

Kilmer is fantastic and this film is a classic among all the great films of his career.
