With all due respect, this movie does not try to convey God's existence. This scene is so important in a way that it gives us, humans, the opportunity to look and analyze our lives in this world. Truman's decision to depart, portrays, not the end of his life, but the notion that we, humans, are in complete control of our lives.

It is always our decision who we are. Not any one else's....
